Rahul Gandhi and Congress Criticize Government After Soldiers Killed in Jammu and Kashmir
Hours after the tragic killing of four soldiers, including an Army officer, in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leaders launched a strong attack on the central government.
Rahul Gandhi’s Statement
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, blamed the BJP’s policies for the incident. He expressed his condolences to the families of the martyrs and called for government accountability. He stated, “Our soldiers and their families are bearing the brunt of the BJP’s wrong policies. Every patriotic Indian demands that the government should take full responsibility for the repeated security lapses.”
Mallikarjun Kharge’s Response
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also criticized the government, stating that it was acting as if everything was normal. He expressed his condolences and called for a reassessment of security strategies in Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “The spate of terror attacks that has gripped Jammu and Kashmir in the past 36 days needs careful recalibration in our security strategy.”
Jairam Ramesh’s Comments
Party MP Jairam Ramesh highlighted the frequency of recent terror attacks in Jammu and demanded answers from the government. He noted, “There have been 11 terror attacks in the last 78 days in Jammu alone. This is a wholly new development.”
Details of the Encounter
On Monday night, a joint operation by the Indian Army and JK Police was in progress in Doda based on specific intelligence inputs. The encounter resulted in the deaths of four Army personnel, including an officer. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi briefed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the incident.
