Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in Group C for Paris 2024 Olympics
World Championships bronze medalists Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have been drawn in Group C for the men’s doubles badminton competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The draw was held at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ranked third in the world, Satwik-Chirag will face:
- Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto (World No. 6)
- Germany’s Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel (World No. 31)
- France’s Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar (World No. 43)
Satwik-Chirag have a favorable 3-2 head-to-head record against Alfian-Ardianto and are unbeaten against their German and French opponents.
Other Indian Players
PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy also received favorable group stage draws. Sindhu will compete in Group M, while Prannoy is in Group K. Both comfortably outrank their group opponents.
In men’s singles, Lakshya Sen will face a tough challenge against Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie in Group L. If Prannoy and Sen win their groups, they will meet in the round of 16.
In women’s doubles, Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa are in Group C and will face Japan’s fourth-seeded Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida.
