S Jaishankar Meets Myanmar’s U Than Swe in New Delhi
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Myanmar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister U Than Swe in New Delhi during the BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers’ Retreat. Jaishankar emphasized India’s concerns over several critical issues, including the early release of Indians detained by cyber scam gangs in Myanmar.

Jaishankar highlighted India’s concerns about border stability, the flow of displaced persons, illegal narcotics, arms trade, and insurgent activities. He stressed India’s firm stance on securing the release of its citizens from unlawful captivity.
Support for Democracy
Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s commitment to Myanmar’s democratic transition, indicating India’s proactive role in promoting democratic principles in the region.
Other Meetings
On the sidelines of the retreat, Jaishankar welcomed colleagues from around the world. He discussed bilateral partnerships with Sri Lanka’s Minister of State Tharaka Balasuriya and Bhutan’s Foreign Minister DN Dhungyel.
