Retired Professor Pradeep Parashar Arrested in Rajasthan Teacher Exam Paper Leak Case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested a retired assistant professor, Pradeep Parashar, in connection with the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET) paper leak case. The arrest was made on July 10 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
Details of the Case
Pradeep Parashar was appointed as the district coordinator by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) to conduct the REET exam on September 26, 2021. He appointed an assistant, Ram Kripal Meena, without valid authorization, giving him access to the secure room where the exam papers were stored.
According to the ED, Parashar and Meena stole the question paper on the night of September 24, 2021, and circulated it to other individuals in exchange for money. The ED’s Jaipur Zonal Office arrested Parashar and produced him before a special PMLA court in Jaipur, which granted a three-day custody to the ED.
Investigation and Arrests
The ED initiated the investigation based on FIRs and charge-sheets filed by the Rajasthan Police. Search operations were conducted at 32 premises, resulting in the recovery of incriminating documents, digital records, and cash. Earlier, the ED had arrested Parashar’s assistant, Ram Kripal Meena, and filed a Prosecution Complaint against him in the Special Court (PMLA), Jaipur.
