Mumbai’s New Coastal Road Phase Opened by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

The third phase of the Dharmaveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road (South) Project has been temporarily opened for traffic from Thursday onwards. This 3.5-kilometre stretch connects Haji Ali to Worli and will be open from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. The road will remain closed on weekends to complete the remaining work.

On Wednesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inspected the road before its opening. He was accompanied by Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Amit Saini, Chief Engineer Girish Nikam, Deputy Chief Engineer Mantayya Swamy, and other officials.

The second phase, connecting Worli to Marine Drive, was inaugurated on June 10 by CM Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The first phase was inaugurated on March 11 by CM Shinde, Deputy CM Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) allocated Rs 3200 crore for the Mumbai Coastal Road project in its 2022-23 budget, making it the highest budget allocation for the year.
