Tragic Bus Accident in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh
New Delhi, India – A tragic accident occurred on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, when a double-decker bus collided with a milk tanker, resulting in the loss of 18 lives and injuring more than 30 people.
President Droupadi Murmu’s Response
President Droupadi Murmu expressed her deep sorrow over the incident, calling it ‘extremely sad.’ She conveyed her condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. In a statement, she said, “The news of the death of many people in a road accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh is extremely sad.”
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Actions
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed his condolences and instructed the district administration to ensure proper treatment for the injured. He stated, “The loss of life in a road accident in Unnao district is extremely sad and heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the bereaved families.”
Details of the Incident
The accident happened at 5:15 am when the bus, traveling from Motihari, Bihar, to Delhi, hit the milk tanker from behind near Gadha Village in the Behtamujawar Police Station area. Police, led by Circle Officer Arvind Chaurasia, quickly arrived at the scene to begin rescue operations.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak’s Visit
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak visited the hospital in Unnao to meet the injured and assured them of proper treatment. He mentioned that most of the injured are from Bihar and that the Uttar Pradesh government is in contact with the Bihar government. He said, “The trauma centre of KGMO is on alert, I have come and seen all the arrangements. Most of the injured people are from Bihar, and we are in contact with the Bihar govt.”
