PM Modi and President Putin Discuss Terrorism and Strengthen India-Russia Ties in Moscow
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Moscow, Russia, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During their meeting, PM Modi condemned terrorism, noting that India has faced this menace for over 40 years. He expressed empathy for the pain caused by terror incidents in Dagestan and Moscow.
PM Modi emphasized the importance of peace, stating that solutions cannot be found on the battlefield. He highlighted the need for peace talks and the pain felt by humanity when innocent lives, especially children, are lost.
The bilateral talks between India and Russia have been ongoing for 25 years, with PM Modi and President Putin meeting 22 times. PM Modi appreciated the open and respectful discussions they had about Ukraine and other issues.
During his visit, PM Modi and President Putin toured the Rosatom Pavilion at the VDNKh Exhibition Centre, accompanied by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Denis Manturov. PM Modi also laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of soldiers.
PM Modi addressed the Indian community in Moscow, announcing the opening of Indian Consulates in Kazan and Yekaterinburg. He praised the Indian diaspora for strengthening India-Russia ties and highlighted the unique and warm relationship between the two nations.
PM Modi acknowledged President Putin’s efforts in strengthening the partnership between India and Russia, noting that their friendship has always emerged stronger through various challenges. He thanked President Putin for helping Indian students return home during conflicts.
PM Modi’s visit to Moscow included a ceremonial welcome at the Vnukovo-II airport and a warm reception from the Indian community at his hotel.
