Congress Leader Ajay Rai Urges Action After Kathua Terror Attack

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 9: Congress leader Ajay Rai called the Kathua terror attack ‘heartbreaking’ and urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha to take immediate action against the terrorists who killed five Army soldiers on July 8.

Five Army soldiers were killed and some were injured when terrorists ambushed the Army convoy in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. Ajay Rai said, ‘It is a tragic and heartbreaking incident that took place in Kathua. Because of our soldiers, we can live our life happily. I pay my tribute to the families of jawan who lost lives in the Kathua terror attack. I urge the Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha to take action against this. If they can’t take any action then they should resign and sit at home.’

Earlier, Congress leader Sachin Pilot condemned the Kathua terror attack and demanded clarification from the central government on the terrorist attacks taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. ‘The terrorist attacks are continuously increasing…In Parliament, the government claims that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is normal. But if our soldiers are losing their lives in terrorist attacks, the government will have to give its clarification,’ Sachin Pilot told reporters on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway following the attack. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir police personnel have been deployed along the National Highway (NH44) in Udhampur. This measure was taken as the 11th batch of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims passed through Udhampur on Tuesday morning. Multi-layered security arrangements have been put in place by the security forces to ensure the safety of the pilgrims.

Since June 9, there have been terror strikes at four places in Reasi, Kathua, and Doda in which nine pilgrims and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan were killed. A civilian and at least seven security personnel were also injured.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir and directed all security agencies to ‘work in a mission mode and ensure quick response in a coordinated manner.’
