Chandrashekhar Azad Demands Justice for Hathras Stampede Victims
Azad Samaj Party MP from Nagina, Chandrashekhar Azad, has called for a thorough investigation into the Hathras stampede incident that led to the deaths of 121 people. The stampede occurred on July 2 at a ‘Satsang’ event of self-styled godman Suraj Pal Singh, also known as ‘Bhole Baba’, in Fulari village, Hathras, Uttar Pradesh.
After meeting with the relatives of the victims, Azad demanded strict action to prevent such incidents in the future. He also urged the state government to provide Rs 25 lakh as compensation to the families of the deceased and Rs 5 lakh to those injured. Additionally, he called on the self-styled godman to give at least Rs 1 crore as compensation to the families of the deceased if he genuinely sympathizes with the victims.
Azad criticized the administration and senior police officials for their negligence, stating that the incident could have been averted if they had taken responsibility. He also questioned Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about the actions taken regarding the incident.
