Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Visits Guwahati and Reviews Arunachal Pradesh Power Sector

Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, visited the Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre in Guwahati’s Panbazar. He shared his plans to visit various places, starting with Arunachal Pradesh and now Guwahati.

Earlier, Khattar chaired a review meeting of the Power Sector in Arunachal Pradesh’s Itanagar. He highlighted the Central Government’s continuous efforts to enhance the North-Eastern region’s connectivity, infrastructure, and welfare. Khattar noted that Arunachal Pradesh holds about 38% of India’s hydropower potential.

Discussions included the importance of Compensatory Afforestation Land for hydropower projects and simplifying electricity processes for consumers. Khattar suggested options for self-meter reading and mobile app bill generation. He emphasized that quality power supply would boost industrial growth and employment in the state. The Minister sought cooperation from the state to achieve ambitious power sector goals.
