Udhampur Health Department Ensures Safety for Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims

The Udhampur Health Department in Jammu and Kashmir has taken significant steps to ensure the well-being of pilgrims undertaking the holy Amarnath Yatra. They have deployed five mobile medical teams (ambulances) along the route from Tikri to Chenani Nashri Tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

Medical Assistance for Pilgrims

According to Dr. Anil Manhas, Chief Medical Officer of Udhampur, these ambulances are stationed at strategic points and are equipped with medical staff and supplies to handle a range of medical situations. In case of serious medical conditions, patients will be transported to designated referral centers, including the Associated Hospital Government Medical College Udhampur, Primary Health Centre Tikri, Community Health Centre Chenani, and Primary Health Centre Majalta.

Reserved Hospital Beds

Dr. Manhas also mentioned that 20 beds have been reserved at the Associated Hospital Medical College Udhampur, while 10 beds each have been allocated at the Primary Health Centre Tikri, Community Health Centre Chenani, and Primary Health Centre Majalta for pilgrims requiring hospitalization.

Amarnath Yatra Details

The Amarnath Yatra, conducted by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, has two routes: one through Pahalgam and the other via Baltal. This year, the yatra started on June 29 and will end on August 19, lasting 52 days. Pilgrims undertake this annual journey to the holy cave shrine located in the Kashmir Himalayas in July-August.

Weather Conditions

Baltal in Ganderbal district, which is on the route of the Amarnath Yatra, experienced rains on the seventh day of the pilgrimage. According to the Srinagar Meteorological Department, Pahalgam recorded a maximum temperature of 20.3 degrees Celsius on July 5.
