Assam Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika is closely monitoring the work of engineers and officials to manage the current flood situation in the state. After visiting the breached embankment at Bangkowal in Numaligarh, 12 Geo Tubes of 25 meters length have been prepared for repairs. Hazarika also discussed with senior engineers the repair of the embankment near the sluice gate at Hatimura in Kaliabor and took stock of urgent work in every district.

He directed engineers to make urgent efforts to save other embankments from flood waters. The chief engineer has been instructed to ensure all materials are dispatched for flood control. Hazarika also instructed officials to prepare for erosion-related issues once the water recedes. He announced that reconstruction of the breached embankment in Bankuwal, Golaghat will start within 3 days using new technologies.

The flood situation in Kaziranga National Park is critical, with 95 out of 233 forest camps submerged. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the flood situation, who assured full cooperation from the Centre.
