Punjab Police Arrests Lakhwinder Singh with 5 kg Heroin in Amritsar

Amritsar (Punjab) [India], July 2: In a significant operation, Punjab Police have dismantled a trans-border narcotic smuggling network. They arrested Lakhwinder Singh, also known as Lakha, from Khemkaran, and seized 5 kg of heroin.

Details of the Operation

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, stated, “Amidst the ongoing war against drugs directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Amritsar Commissionerate Police successfully arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 5 kg of heroin.”

The police also confiscated the Splendor motorcycle used by Lakhwinder Singh. The DGP revealed that Lakhwinder was in direct contact with a Pakistan-based drug smuggler named Ali and used drones to transport drugs from Pakistan.

Search and Seizure

The entire search and seizure process was recorded on video in the presence of a Gazetted Officer, following new criminal law provisions. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further connections.

Police Action

Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar, Ranjit Singh Dhillon, shared that police teams received reliable information about Lakhwinder’s movements. Acting swiftly, teams from CIA-2, supervised by ADCP CITY-2 Abhimanyu Rana, set a trap and arrested Lakhwinder in Khemkaran.

A case has been registered under sections 21C, 23, and 25 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Islamabad in Amritsar.
