Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik expressed their condolences following a tragic stampede at a religious event in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, which resulted in the deaths of 50 to 60 people.

Rajnath Singh described the incident as ‘extremely painful’ and extended his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured and assured that the local administration, under the state government’s supervision, is providing all possible help to the victims.

Naveen Patnaik expressed his sorrow, stating, ‘Deeply saddened to learn about the loss of so many lives in the stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief and pray for the speedy recovery of those who are hospitalised.’

Actions by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister

The Office of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted that the CM has expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He has directed district administration officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital for proper treatment and to speed up relief work at the spot. An investigation into the causes of the incident has been ordered under the leadership of ADG Agra and Commissioner Aligarh.

Local Administration’s Response

Hathras District Magistrate Ashish Kumar confirmed the increase in the death toll, stating that the district administration is investigating the matter. The injured are being taken to the hospital, and people are still being recovered. A high-level committee has been formed to investigate the matter, and the primary focus of the administration is to provide all possible help to the injured and the families of the deceased.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the tragic incident and issued immediate directives to expedite relief efforts at the site. He has instructed officials to promptly transport the injured to hospitals and ensure they receive adequate medical treatment. Additionally, CM Yogi has ordered district administration officials to arrive at the scene without delay and accelerate the relief and rescue operations.
