Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Responds to Rahul Gandhi’s Claims on NEET-UG and Agniveer
New Delhi, India – Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has criticized Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for his statements in Parliament regarding the NEET-UG exam and the Agniveer scheme. Rijiju emphasized that Gandhi must face the rules of the house if he has lied.
Joint Press Conference
In a joint press conference with BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Rijiju stated, “All those unverified statements made by Rahul Gandhi, we have challenged instantly. We have made a request to the Speaker to pass a direction that if we have made an unverified statement then we are ready to take a corrective course.”
Rijiju added, “If the Leader of Opposition (Rahul Gandhi) has lied in the House then he will have to face the rules and regulations of the House. He (Speaker) has already assured the House that he will give necessary and appropriate directions in this regard. He is the LoP, it’s not a post for saying lies. You cannot speak lies and cannot mislead people.”
Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations
During a debate on the Motion Of Thanks on the President’s Address, Rahul Gandhi criticized the BJP-led government over the Agniveer scheme, claiming that Agniveers are not called ‘jawans’ and do not receive pensions after serving for four years. He also mentioned an Agniveer who lost his life in a landmine blast but was not called a ‘martyr’.
Gandhi further targeted the government over the NEET-UG exam, stating that students believe the exam is designed for rich people and not for meritorious students. He claimed that NEET students spend years preparing for the exam, with their families supporting them financially and emotionally, only to feel that the system favors the wealthy.
