Congress Protests Nursing College Scam, Demands Minister Vishwas Sarang’s Resignation in Madhya Pradesh

On Monday, Congress leaders staged a protest at the Madhya Pradesh state assembly, demanding the resignation of state cabinet minister Vishwas Sarang over a nursing college scam. The protest took place in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue before the assembly session began.

Allegations Against Minister Vishwas Sarang

Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar accused Sarang of illegally collecting Rs 20,000 per seat from nursing college operators, amassing Rs 200-300 crores statewide. Singhar claimed that the Nursing Council, under Sarang’s influence, changed rules illegally, leading to a reprimand from the High Court.

Singhar demanded a discussion on the issue in the assembly session and called for timely exams for the affected youth. He also insisted on Sarang’s resignation to prevent future scams.

Statements from Congress Leaders

Congress MLA Vikrant Bhuria labeled the nursing scam as the biggest in the state after Vyapam, accusing Sarang of approving nursing colleges for his close aides by bypassing rules. Bhuria questioned the involvement of corrupt CBI officers and demanded Sarang’s resignation and potential imprisonment if found guilty.

Importance of the Assembly Session

The budget session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly, running from July 1 to July 19, is crucial. Former CM Kamal Nath highlighted the session’s importance in exposing state scams, including those related to roads, NEET, and nursing.
