Mallikarjun Kharge Criticizes PM Modi and Rajya Sabha Chairman Over Recent Issues

New Delhi, June 29: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not reflecting on the message given by voters in the recent parliamentary elections. This criticism was based on an editorial by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.

Kharge shared Gandhi’s article titled ‘Preaching consensus, provoking confrontation’ on social media, where she claimed that the PM’s third term was not part of the electoral outcome. The BJP’s victory tally in the 2024 elections was much lower than in 2019 and 2014, while the Congress party saw significant growth, winning 99 seats compared to 52 in 2019 and 44 in 2014.

During Rajya Sabha proceedings, Kharge and other opposition members protested, leading to an adjournment. Kharge criticized Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar for ignoring opposition concerns about the NEET-UG exam paper leak. Kharge stated that the opposition wanted to discuss the issue to address the worries of lakhs of students.

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began on June 24, with the Rajya Sabha session starting on June 27.
