Dubai Private Schools Shine in Global Rankings for Financial Literacy and Creative Thinking

Dubai’s private schools have excelled in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022 study, conducted by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The study, which evaluates 15-year-old students’ real-life skills, saw Dubai ranking second in financial literacy and sixth in creative thinking.

Financial Literacy

Dubai private schools scored 522 points in financial literacy, compared to the OECD global average of 498 points. Eighty-two percent of the 4,478 participating students from Dubai said they know how to manage their money, and 79 percent had savings goals.

Creative Thinking

In creative thinking, Dubai private schools scored 36 points, above the OECD average of 33 points. Eighty-four percent of 7,474 participating students performed at the OECD baseline level or above in creative thinking skills, with 74 percent confident in coming up with creative ideas for school projects.

Comments from Officials

Aisha Miran, Director-General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, expressed pride in the students’ performance, highlighting Dubai’s reputation for high-quality education. Fatma Belrehif, CEO of the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau, noted the importance of developing students’ capabilities across all fields to prepare them for the future.

Overall Performance

According to the PISA 2022 results, Dubai private schools also ranked ninth globally in mathematics, 13th in reading, and 14th in science, exceeding the OECD averages in these subjects.
