Bodoland Mohotsav: A Celebration of Culture and Heritage

The first-ever Bodoland Mohotsav took place at KD Jadhav Wrestling Stadium in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance. This two-day event highlighted the rich culture, tourism, and handloom of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), home to the Bodo tribe.

Discussions on Education and Culture

Key discussions were held on the National Education Policy 2020, focusing on mother tongue education. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other leaders participated. Another session on tourism and culture featured Pramod Boro, CEM of BTR, and other dignitaries.

Preserving Bodo Language and Culture

Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the importance of promoting Bodo language and culture. Dipen Boro, President of the All Bodo Students Union, honored the sacrifices of Bodo martyrs for their identity and rights.

Showcasing Bodo Heritage

The festival displayed Bodoland’s Geographical Indication (GI) products, including handloom items like Bodo Gamosa and traditional drinks. The Siphung, a musical instrument, was also featured.

Cultural Celebrations

Day two began with a flag hoisting by Surath Narzary, followed by a cultural rally. A grand evening event featured singer Papon. The festival celebrated the Bodo Peace Accord of 2020, marking a journey of peace and unity in Bodoland.

The event included performances from various communities, showcasing the unity and diversity of the Bodoland region.
