Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Approves Major Upgrades and Initiatives
Municipal Upgrades and New Developments
The Himachal Pradesh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has approved the upgradation of three Municipal Councils to Municipal Corporations and two Nagar Panchayats to Municipal Councils. Additionally, six new Nagar Panchayats will be created, and more areas will be included under various Urban Local Bodies.
Welfare and Financial Initiatives
The cabinet decided to increase the honorarium for Multi-Task Workers in the Public Works Department from Rs 4500 to Rs 5000 per month. It also approved bringing all elderly above 70 years under the Aayushman Bharat Yojna, with an additional Rs 5 lakh cover per annum for those already registered. Financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh will be provided for house construction for widows, single destitute, and divyang women with an annual income below Rs 2.50 lakh.
Support for Children and Startups
The Mukhyamantri Sukh-ashray Yojana will now benefit abandoned and surrendered children up to 27 years. The Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgaar Start Up Yojna 2023 will ensure a minimum rent of Rs 50 thousand for e-taxi owners attached to government departments.
Healthcare and Education Enhancements
New posts for Senior Resident Doctors and ancillary staff will be created at Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur. A new police post will also be established there. The cabinet approved new courses and increased seats in various educational institutions, including M. Tech in Electrical Engineering at Government Hydro Engineering College, Bandla.
Infrastructure and Employment
New posts will be filled in the Departments of Fisheries, Excise and Taxation, and HP Rajya Chayan Aayog. A new Block Medical Office will be established in Dehra, Kangra, and a Community Health Centre in Gumma, Shimla. The cabinet also approved a winery setup at Parala, Shimla, to benefit apple growers and provide local employment.
