In Simdega, Jharkhand, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly dividing the country and its underprivileged citizens. He addressed a public meeting, accusing the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of creating divisions. Kharge questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Sath hai to safe hai,” asking what measures the government has taken for safety and support for poor children.

Kharge also responded to BJP’s focus on infiltration in Jharkhand, questioning why it persists under their rule. He announced that the INDIA bloc would increase the Maiya Samman Yojana amount from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500 starting December. He promised to raise the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy to Rs 3,200 per quintal and provide health insurance coverage up to Rs 15 lakh for every family in the state. Additionally, he pledged 7 kg of free ration, affordable gas cylinders, and efforts to empower 10 lakh youths.

The first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections has concluded, with voting in 43 of the 81 seats. The remaining elections will occur on November 20.
