In Johannesburg, South Africa, Suryakumar Yadav extended his best wishes to the Indian cricket team as they prepare for the challenging Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. The Indian team, known for its depth, recently secured a 3-1 T20I series victory under Yadav’s captaincy, despite missing key players like Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill, who are gearing up for the upcoming five-match Test series in Perth.

The Test series in Australia is crucial as it could determine India’s chances in the World Test Championship final next year in London. India needs to win four out of the five matches to secure a spot in the final. Suryakumar expressed confidence in the team’s preparation, stating, “For the squad in Australia, I wish them all the luck. I know they’re well prepared going into the series, and I know it’ll be a challenging one, but at the same time, I wish them all the luck.”

India has been intensifying its preparations with intra-squad match simulations to get ready for the Perth Test, known for its challenging bounce. Despite the tight schedule, the Indian team managed to win the T20I series with young players stepping up. These players will now return to India to participate in the Ranji Trophy.

Suryakumar praised the young players’ enthusiasm for domestic cricket, highlighting the strong foundation of Indian cricket. He noted, “I think it says a lot about how strong the base of Indian cricket is. Guys playing a lot of domestic cricket going back home. Even before this game, I realised I know these guys are talking about going back and playing a lot of domestic cricket for the respective state.”
