The Special Olympics UAE is hosting leaders from the Middle East and North Africa for the first MENA Business Leadership Meeting in Abu Dhabi from November 15 to 17. Representatives from 18 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Mauritania, are attending to discuss strategies for inclusive sports and integration programs.

The event includes a visit to the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, showcasing the UAE’s services for people with disabilities. Key figures like Dr. Timothy Shriver, Chairman of Special Olympics International, and Eng. Ayman Abdel Wahab, Regional President of Special Olympics MENA, are present to enhance collaboration and share best practices in sports, health, and education.

A significant announcement was the appointment of Talal Al Hashemi, National Director of Special Olympics UAE, as Chair of the new MENA Regional Advisory Council. This council aims to expand opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Al Hashemi expressed gratitude for the UAE’s commitment to inclusion, emphasizing the council’s role in providing tools and opportunities for success.

Eng. Ayman Abdel Wahab thanked the UAE for hosting the meeting, highlighting the country’s leadership in inclusion and empowerment. The meeting marks a return to Abu Dhabi after a pandemic-related pause, offering valuable insights from the UAE’s successful model.
