Prime Minister Modi Celebrates Development in Bodoland
Inauguration of the 1st Bodoland Mahotsav
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significant development in Bodoland following the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord. Speaking at the inauguration of the 1st Bodoland Mahotsav, he announced a special package of Rs 1,500 crore from the Central Government and over Rs 700 crore from the Assam Government for infrastructure development in education, health, and culture.
Impact of the Bodo Peace Accord
The Bodo Peace Accord, signed in January 2020, has not only benefited Bodoland but also paved the way for future peace agreements. The accord led to the disarmament of 1615 NDFB faction workers. The Mahotsav, held on November 15 and 16, celebrates the cultural and linguistic heritage of the Bodo community and aims to foster peace and harmony.
Cultural Celebrations
During the event, PM Modi enjoyed a traditional Bodo dance and played the Sarinda, a Bodo musical instrument. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma participated virtually. The Bodos, an indigenous community in Assam, have a rich cultural history and their language is recognized in India’s Constitution.

PM Modi extended greetings for Kartik Purnima, Dev Deepawali, and the 555th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev. He also attended a program in Bihar marking the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
