On November 14, Dubai Health marked World Diabetes Day by showcasing its comprehensive diabetes care and prevention programs. These programs, available across hospitals and health centers, focus on early detection and lifestyle education to manage diabetes effectively. The initiatives align with Dubai’s Social Agenda 33, aiming to create a high-quality health system that promotes healthy living.

Preventive Health and Early Detection

Dubai Health emphasizes preventive health and early detection, educating patients and families on managing diabetes through healthy choices. Early detection allows timely intervention to prevent disease progression. Care plans, developed by multidisciplinary teams, use advanced technologies like AI for blood sugar tracking and medication management.

New Diabetes Center Facility

The Dubai Health Board of Directors has approved a new facility for the Diabetes Center, doubling its size to over 53,000 square feet. This expansion will increase patient capacity over the next decade. Dr. Muna Tahlak, Chief Medical Officer, highlighted the importance of early screenings and community collaboration to prevent diabetes and its complications.

Three Pillars of Diabetes Care

Dr. Walid Mohamed Mahmoud, Chair of Medicine, outlined the three pillars of their diabetes care plan: integrated multidisciplinary care, advanced technological devices, and specialized treatment programs. Community initiatives include workshops, awareness activities, and free screenings.

Honoring Dedicated Professionals

In celebration of World Diabetes Day, Dubai Health honored 12 professionals for their 15 years of service at the Diabetes Center. The event, attended by Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg and Dr. Amer Sharif, featured mental health sessions and success stories from Emirati patients.
