Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Nigeria on November 16-17, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the West African nation in 17 years. This visit comes at the invitation of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The last visit was by Manmohan Singh in 2007, which established a strategic partnership between the two countries.
Agenda and Meetings
During his visit, PM Modi will receive a ceremonial welcome and hold a one-on-one meeting with President Tinubu. The leaders will engage in delegation-level talks to review and enhance bilateral relations. Indian companies have invested around USD 27 billion in Nigeria, making them the second-largest employment provider. India also offers 500 scholarships annually to Nigerian students, enhancing educational cooperation.
