Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s Vision to Transform Kangra into Tourism Hub
On Wednesday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reviewed key developmental projects in Kangra district, aiming to make it the tourism capital of the state. The projects include a zoo in Bankhandi, water sports at Pong Lake, Kangra Airport expansion, and a new milk plant in Dhangwar.
Kangra Airport Expansion
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of expanding Kangra Airport, extending the runway from 1,376 meters to 3,010 meters to accommodate larger aircraft. Land is being acquired from 14 villages, and flights will operate from sunrise to sunset by March 2025. The airport will also support night landings.

Road widening projects are underway, and a heliport in Palampur will soon begin construction, costing Rs 13 crore. An advanced milk plant in Dhangwar, costing over Rs 225 crore, will produce various dairy products, with 247 cooperative societies established for milk collection.
