In Ranchi, Jharkhand, during the first phase of the assembly polls, former Congress President Rajesh Thakur expressed confidence in his party’s success. He stated that the Congress has worked hard for the people and is optimistic about winning most seats. Thakur also commented on the Wayanad by-poll, predicting a victory for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is contesting her first election from Kerala’s Wayanad constituency.

Priyanka Gandhi is competing against Satyan Mokeri from the Left Democratic Front and BJP’s Navya Haridas. The voter turnout in Jharkhand was 13.04% by 9 am, with voting taking place in 43 out of 81 seats. The elections are being held under tight security, with over 200 companies of security forces deployed. The BJP-led NDA is challenging the JMM-led coalition, with notable candidates like former Chief Minister Champai Soren and Congress leader Ajoy Kumar participating.

By-elections are also occurring in 31 assembly seats across 10 states, including seven in Rajasthan, six in West Bengal, and five in Assam. The voting process is scheduled to continue until 5 pm, with special arrangements at 950 sensitive booths.
