India’s First All-Women CISF Battalion Approved
The Ministry of Home Affairs in India has made a significant decision to empower women by approving the creation of the first all-women battalion in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). This move aims to enhance women’s roles in national security.
Preparations Underway
According to CISF Deputy Inspector General Deepak Verma, preparations have begun for recruiting, training, and selecting a location for the headquarters of this new battalion. The training program is being specially designed to equip the battalion with skills for various roles, including VIP security and airport security, as well as duties in the Delhi Metro Rail.
Encouraging Women to Join
The proposal for this all-women battalion was initiated following the Union Home Minister’s direction during the 53rd CISF Day function. This initiative is expected to inspire more young women across India to join the CISF and contribute to national service, providing a new identity for women in the force.
Current Women Representation
Currently, women make up over seven percent of the CISF, which is a popular choice for women wishing to serve in the Central Armed Police Force.
