FIR Filed Against BJP Jharkhand for Misleading Video
In Ranchi, Jharkhand, an FIR has been registered at the cybercrime police station due to a video posted on the BJP Jharkhand’s social media handle, which allegedly violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) guidelines. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, claiming the video was false and misleading. He described the ad as “disgusting” and a serious criminal act, urging the Election Commission to take immediate action.
The video is accused of influencing voters and discouraging support for parties opposing the BJP in the Jharkhand assembly polls. FIR no 176/24 was filed on November 10, 2024, and the cybercrime police requested social media platforms to remove the posts under Section 69(A) of the IT Act, 2000.
Congress Criticizes BJP’s Campaign
Jairam Ramesh criticized the BJP’s campaign, stating it lacks issues and focuses on communal polarization. He highlighted the INDIA coalition’s campaign, which emphasizes achievements and promises for Jharkhand’s development. Ramesh accused the BJP of failing to fulfill promises and denying funds due to Jharkhand.
He expressed confidence that voters will reject the BJP’s negative campaign in the upcoming assembly elections, scheduled for November 13 and 20, with results on November 23.
