Balochistan Protest Camp Set on Fire
VBMP and Leaders Condemn Attack
In Quetta, Balochistan, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, known as Paank, has condemned the actions of Pakistani authorities who attacked a hunger strike camp organized by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP). The camp, which has been advocating against enforced disappearances for over 15 years, was set on fire outside the Quetta Press Club.
Mama Qadeer Baloch, the Vice Chairman of VBMP, stated that individuals supported by Pakistani forces were responsible for the attack. He expressed concern over this being the fourth such incident aimed at silencing their protest. Qadeer Baloch questioned why the state feels threatened by their peaceful demonstration.
Allah Nazar Baloch, a pro-independence leader, criticized the attack, calling it “an act of state terrorism.” He praised Qadeer Baloch as a symbol of resilience and urged the Baloch people to unite against enforced disappearances. Despite the violent actions, the protesters remain determined to fight for justice and freedom.
There has been a noticeable increase in enforced disappearances recently, highlighting the ongoing human rights violations against the Baloch people by Pakistani authorities.
