Coast Guard Chief S Paramesh Meets Key Leaders

In New Delhi, Indian Coast Guard Chief Director General S Paramesh met with Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi to discuss national security, Coast Guard preparedness, and capacity building. The meeting focused on modernizing and advancing technology to counter threats.

Later, S Paramesh met with President Droupadi Murmu to discuss the Coast Guard’s dedication to maritime law enforcement and national security. Accompanied by Priya Paramesh, they also talked about welfare initiatives for troops and families.

On Monday, S Paramesh met with Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi to discuss coastal security, pollution response, and search and rescue operations. They explored ways to enhance cooperation between the Coast Guard and Navy.

VD Chafekar’s New Role

VD Chafekar, a retired Additional Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, has been appointed as the Executive Director of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP ISC) in Singapore. His term will run from April 2025 to March 2028, highlighting India’s commitment to regional maritime security.

ReCAAP ISC, established in 2006, is a regional agreement to combat piracy and armed robbery at sea in Asia, promoting cooperation and information sharing.
