External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently visited Canberra, Australia, where he met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. During their meeting, Jaishankar expressed gratitude for the deepening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Australia. He conveyed warm greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appreciated Albanese’s guidance in strengthening the partnership.

In addition to his meetings in Australia, Jaishankar met with New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters. They discussed various topics, including education, technology, agriculture, and people-to-people connections, as well as global and Indo-Pacific issues.

Jaishankar, along with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, addressed the ‘Raisina Down Under’ event, an extension of India’s Raisina Dialogue. He also inaugurated a new Indian consulate in Brisbane, marking it as a significant milestone in India-Australia relations. Jaishankar praised the Indian diaspora in Australia for their contributions across various sectors, highlighting their role as a “living bridge” between the two countries.
