Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Faces Inquiry
Allegations of Irregularities in Mysuru Urban Development Authority
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah arrived at the Lokayukta Police office in Mysuru for an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. The inquiry follows a court order to investigate claims of illegal allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi.
Enforcement Directorate’s Involvement
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted searches in Mangalore, Bengaluru, Mandya, and Mysuru related to the MUDA-linked money laundering case. The ED has summoned six MUDA employees for questioning and filed a money laundering case against Siddaramaiah and others, applying the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Political Reactions and Legal Proceedings
Siddaramaiah denies the allegations, claiming political persecution, and refuses to resign despite demands from the BJP. The Karnataka High Court has issued notices to Siddaramaiah and others on a petition seeking to transfer the investigation. The court has asked the Lokayukta police to submit probe details by November 25.
