Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi Leads Third MAHASAGAR Initiative
The Indian Navy conducted the third edition of the high-level virtual interaction called ‘MAHASAGAR’ on Tuesday. Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, engaged with leaders from navies and maritime agencies of Indian Ocean Region countries including Bangladesh, Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania.
Theme: Training Cooperation
The theme of the interaction was ‘Training Cooperation to Mitigate Common Maritime Security Challenges in IOR’. This highlights the importance of training collaboration to address maritime challenges in the Indian Ocean Region.

MAHASAGAR, meaning ‘vast ocean’ in Hindi, is a flagship initiative by the Indian Navy for virtual interaction among maritime leaders. It aims for Active Security and Growth for All in the Region. Since its start in 2023, it has been held bi-annually and is well-received by participating nations.
