CBI Raids Uncover Illegal Mining Activities in Jharkhand
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted a series of raids across 16 locations in three states, focusing on alleged illegal mining activities in Jharkhand. These raids were part of an investigation initiated in November 2023, following a court order. The operation covered 14 sites in Jharkhand, including 11 in Sahibganj and 3 in Ranchi, as well as one location each in Kolkata and Patna.
During the raids, CBI officials seized Rs. 50 lakhs in cash, one kilogram of gold, and a quantity of silver jewellery. The First Information Report (FIR) has named eight individuals for their involvement in illegal stone mining in Nimbu Pahar, Sahibganj.
