BSF and Sabroom Police Capture Eight Individuals at Tripura Border
In a joint operation on Monday, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Sabroom Police apprehended eight individuals at Jalkumbha near Sabroom in South Tripura district. The group included three Indian nationals and five Bangladeshi nationals. The operation occurred around 2:40 pm. According to an official statement, the Indian nationals were from Baikhora, South Tripura, while the Bangladeshi nationals hailed from Jagannath village, PS Ramgarh, Khagracheri in Bangladesh. A preliminary inquiry is underway.
The BSF emphasized their commitment to border security, maintaining high alertness along the international border to prevent infiltration. Earlier, on Saturday, the BSF apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals from two locations in Tripura. At around 2:30 pm, BSF troops from BOP Kamla Sagar in Sepahijela district captured four Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter India by crossing the IBB Fence. Three were from Gopalganj district, and one, facilitating the crossing, was from Kasba, Bangladesh. In another operation, a Bangladeshi national from Netrakona district was apprehended by BSF troops from BOP Samrupara in Unakoti district.
Additionally, BSF troops thwarted several smuggling attempts along the Indo-Bangladesh border, rescuing 12 cattle and seizing 900 kgs of sugar and other contraband worth Rs 3 lakhs. On Friday, the BSF arrested two Rohingya migrants at Karbook bus stand in Gomati District, Tripura, as they planned to exfiltrate into Bangladesh. The migrants, from the Rohingya Refugee Camp in Cox Bazar, Bangladesh, had Indian currency, mobile phones, and UNHCR cards in their possession.
