BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal Criticizes AAP for Delhi’s Pollution Crisis
On Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Praveen Khandelwal expressed strong criticism towards the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, blaming them for the worsening air pollution in Delhi. He accused Arvind Kejriwal of failing to take effective measures over the past decade to address the issue.
Khandelwal stated, “We are breathing poisonous air here, and the AAP government is responsible for that. In the last 10 years, Arvind Kejriwal has not done anything which can permanently resolve the issue of air pollution in Delhi.”
Earlier in the day, a layer of smog covered Delhi, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) remaining in the “very poor” category. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported AQI levels above 300 in many areas, with New Moti Bagh recording 400, RK Puram 393, Dwarka Sector 8 393, and ITO 349. Vivek Vihar and Ashok Vihar recorded “severe” levels at 421 and 409, respectively.
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai announced the deployment of 200 mobile anti-smog guns to combat dust pollution. These will operate in three shifts, spraying water across the city. Additionally, the ‘Red Light On, Gaadi Off’ campaign aims to reduce vehicle emissions.
