Mandal Murmu Joins BJP: A New Chapter in Santhal Pargana
In Deoghar, Jharkhand, Mandal Murmu, who previously supported Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s nomination, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Murmu expressed his commitment to addressing demographic changes in Santhal Pargana, a region with historical significance due to the Santhal rebellion led by Sidhu-Kanhu and Phulo Jhano against British rule.
The joining ceremony was attended by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sarma emphasized that Murmu’s decision symbolizes the blessings of the Santhal leaders. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey welcomed Murmu, highlighting concerns about the tribal culture’s crisis under the current Jharkhand government.
