Balochistan Operation: Three Terrorists Killed, Two Arrested in Musakhel

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Balochistan conducted a significant operation in the Musakhel district early Sunday. This operation led to the deaths of three terrorists and the arrest of two others. The operation was based on credible information about the presence of terrorists from the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in the Rarhasham area.

According to a CTD spokesperson, forces including CTD, FC, and police were deployed in the area. Late at night, they encountered a group of 10-12 terrorists moving towards the main road. A heavy exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the deaths of three terrorists and the capture of two, while five to seven others escaped in the darkness. A search operation is ongoing to locate the escapees.

The operation also uncovered a cache of weapons and ammunition. The bodies of the deceased terrorists were sent to a hospital, and the arrested individuals are being interrogated. An FIR has been filed with the CTD, and further updates are awaited.

Earlier, the Balochistan CTD registered an FIR against unidentified terrorists involved in an IED blast in Mastung, which killed nine people, including five children, and injured 29 others. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack, emphasizing the targeting of innocent children and laborers by terrorists.

The region, especially Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has seen a rise in terrorism-related incidents recently. Despite a 24% decline in terror attacks in September compared to August, there were increases in August and July. In 2023, Pakistan recorded 1,524 violence-related fatalities and 1,463 injuries from 789 terror attacks and counter-terror operations, marking a six-year high in fatalities, including those of outlaws.
