Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, is embarking on a four-day official visit to Zambia starting Monday. The visit aims to strengthen the relationship between India and Zambia.

6th Session of India-Zambia Joint Permanent Commission

On November 6, Minister Singh will co-chair the 6th Session of the India-Zambia Joint Permanent Commission with Zambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe. This session will review various aspects of the bilateral relations between the two countries. The previous session was held in 2005 in New Delhi.

Promoting Trade and Investment

During his visit, Minister Singh will engage in discussions with senior Zambian government leaders and participate in an India-Zambia Business Round Table Conference. This conference aims to boost trade and investment between the two nations. In 2023-24, the bilateral trade between India and Zambia was valued at USD 448.39 million, with India being a major investor in Zambia, pledging over USD 5 billion.

Engagement with the Indian Community

Minister Singh will also meet with the Indian community in Lusaka, which is a vibrant group of around 30,000 people. This visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Zambia, marking a significant milestone in their partnership.
