Mumbai, Maharashtra: Nawab Malik, a leader from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and candidate for the Mankhurd Shivaji Assembly constituency, is gearing up for a challenging election. He is contesting against the Mahayuti alliance, which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena.
Malik emphasized his allegiance to the NCP and Ajit Pawar, stating, “I am the candidate of Nationalist Congress Party, I am with Ajit Pawar, he has made me a candidate.” He believes Ajit Pawar will be a “kingmaker” in the formation of the new government due to the tight competition in Maharashtra.
Addressing allegations of links to the underworld and Dawood Ibrahim, Malik stated, “The way I am being linked to the underworld, people have even called me a traitor in the Vidhan Sabha.” He plans to take legal action against those spreading false accusations.
Despite opposition from BJP and Shiv Sena, Malik remains confident, highlighting his long political career and service as a five-time MLA and six-time minister. His daughter, Sana Malik, also criticized the BJP for opposing her father, expressing faith in the electorate’s support.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are set for November 20, with results to be announced on November 23. In previous elections, the BJP and Shiv Sena have been strong contenders, making this election a significant event in the state’s political landscape.
