Rajnath Singh Visits Kanpur’s Field Gun Factory
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Field Gun Factory in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a unit of Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL). The factory is known for producing Barrel and Breach assemblies for artillery guns and tanks like Tank T-90 and Dhanush Gun. During his visit, Singh inspected facilities such as the Heat Treatment and New Assembly Shop to assess indigenous defence capabilities.

Rajnath Singh was joined by Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar and DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V Kamat. He received briefings from the CMDs of three Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) in Kanpur, including AWEIL, Troop Comforts India Limited, and Gliders India Limited, as well as the Director of Defence Materials and Stores Research & Development Establishment.

The CMDs discussed their product profiles, ongoing projects, R&D efforts, and modernization activities. AWEIL focuses on gun systems, TCL on combat uniforms and protective gear, and GIL on parachutes.
