External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Australia and Singapore from November 3 to November 8, 2024. His visit to Australia will take place from November 3 to November 7, where he will travel to Brisbane to inaugurate India’s fourth consulate in the country. The India-Australia relationship has grown significantly, with cooperation expanding across various sectors. Jaishankar will co-chair the 15th Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in Canberra and deliver a keynote address at the 2nd Raisina Down Under event in the Australian Parliament House. He will also engage with Australian leaders, parliamentarians, the Indian diaspora, business community, media, and think tanks. The Indian community in Australia is the second largest migrant group, with over 900,000 people as per the 2021 census.

On November 8, Jaishankar will visit Singapore to participate in the 8th Roundtable of ASEAN – India Network of Think Tanks. ASEAN includes countries like Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia, and India has a strong relationship with ASEAN through the Act East Policy. In Singapore, Jaishankar will meet with local leaders to discuss the close partnership between India and Singapore and explore ways to enhance bilateral relations. The Indian community in Singapore makes up about 9.2% of the population. Jaishankar’s visit aims to strengthen India’s ties with both Australia and Singapore.
