Fire Breaks Out in Raghubarpura, Delhi
A fire erupted in a residential building in Raghubarpura, New Delhi, on Friday evening. The Delhi Fire Service quickly responded by sending 12 fire tenders to the location. ADO Yashwant Singh Meena confirmed that the fire is now under control.
Firefighting Efforts
Initially, three fire brigades were dispatched after the fire call was received at 3:05 pm. The fire affected the second and third floors of the building, where storage in the godown complicated firefighting efforts. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Diwali Fire Incidents Surge
This Diwali, Delhi saw a record number of fire-related incidents, with the highest number of emergency calls since 2012. The Delhi Fire Service received 318 calls in 2023, a significant increase from previous years. On Diwali night alone, 310 calls were recorded, a sharp rise from 195 the previous year.
Director’s Statement
Fire Services Director Atul Garg mentioned that although there were not many major incidents, the volume of calls was substantial. From 5 pm to 5 am, over 300 calls were recorded, with 192 calls between 5 pm and 12 am, and another 158 from midnight to 6 am.
