Assam CM Criticizes Jharkhand CM Amid Age Controversy
In Jamtara, Jharkhand, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the BJP co-in-charge for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, criticized the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and its leader, Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Sarma labeled the JMM system as “fake” and accused them of corruption, stating that Soren’s age had increased by seven years in five years according to affidavits. He urged the people of Jharkhand to remove the JMM from power, claiming the government is unsafe and infiltrated.
Additionally, Sarma condemned Congress leader Irfan Ansari for making derogatory remarks against BJP leader Sita Soren, noting the lack of action from the Jharkhand government. Ansari had called Sita Soren a “rejected” and “borrowed” player, sparking controversy.
BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla also criticized the JMM, accusing them of corruption and labeling them as “Jhol, Muslim appeasement, and Mafia.” He claimed that the JMM government has set new corruption standards.
In response, JMM Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji stated that the BJP is distracted and that the JMM will win the upcoming elections, focusing on development issues. The elections for the 81 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly are scheduled for November 13 and 20, with results to be announced on November 23.
