Assam Minister Atul Bora Launches Elephant Safari in Kaziranga National Park

On a bright Friday morning, Assam’s Agriculture Minister, Atul Bora, inaugurated the elephant safari for the new tourist season at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. The event took place at Mihimukh under the Kohora forest range, where Minister Bora cut the ribbon and performed an elephant puja. Sonali Ghosh, the Field Director of the park, along with other senior forest officials, attended the ceremony.

Minister Bora shared that many foreign tourists joined the elephant ride, and the park has seen a significant increase in tourist footfall. In October alone, 28,980 tourists visited, setting a new record. Sonali Ghosh noted that the number of foreign tourists nearly doubled compared to the previous year, with several groups enjoying the elephant safari.

The park, which reopened on October 1, offers visitors a chance to see iconic wildlife such as the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, tigers, elephants, and various bird species. Efforts to prevent poaching are ongoing, with recent arrests made by a joint team from Biswanath district police and the forest department.
