Imran Khan Meets Family in Jail Amid Allegations of Mistreatment
Former Pakistan Prime Minister and founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan, met with his family members at Adiala Jail after a ban on visits was lifted. The meeting, which took place in the jail’s conference room, included his sisters Aleema, Uzma, and Noreen Khan. This was the first family visit since October 3.
During the two-hour meeting, Khan’s sisters expressed concerns about his treatment in prison. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur threatened to disrupt the country if Khan faced mistreatment. He accused the federal and Punjab governments of shutting down electricity to Khan’s cell, providing substandard food, and restricting his exercise.
Gandapur warned that the PTI would take action if mistreatment reports continued. Aleema Khan alleged that the power supply to Khan’s cell had been cut since October 3, and the food provided caused nausea. A statement on Khan’s official social media account claimed he was subjected to mental torture by being confined to his cell.
The PTI has been vocal about Khan’s alleged mistreatment, prompting concerns from his ex-wife, Jemima Goldsmith.
