On October 30, Sujata Chaturvedi, the Secretary of Sports and acting Director General of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), led a significant event in New Delhi. Over 1500 athletes and officials from the Ministry of Sports and SAI participated in a pledge to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, also known as National Unity Day.

Honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed annually on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a crucial role in uniting India. This day was established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 to emphasize the nation’s dedication to unity and its vision to lead globally by 2047.

Nationwide Participation

The event saw participation from athletes, coaches, support staff, and officials from 24 National Centres of Excellence across India. Members of the SAI Head Office and the Union Sports Ministry in New Delhi also joined the online pledge, reinforcing their commitment to the unity, integrity, and security of the nation.
