UAE Condemns Israeli Laws Against UNRWA in Palestinian Territories
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed strong disapproval of the Israeli parliament’s decision to pass two laws that restrict the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from operating in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem. The UAE highlighted the crucial role of UNRWA in providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians, especially during the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasized that these laws violate the UN Charter and international norms, worsening the already dire humanitarian situation. The Ministry called for UNRWA and other UN agencies to continue their humanitarian efforts safely and sustainably.
The UAE also reiterated the importance of supporting regional and international efforts to advance peace in the Middle East, end illegal practices, and promote the two-state solution, aiming for an independent Palestinian state. The Ministry affirmed the UAE’s commitment to peace, justice, and the rights of the Palestinian people.
